The iliotibial band. He’s the culprit. Bastard. My coworker Joel pointed it out to me because apparently my googling skills need some work as Iliotibial band syndrome, or ITBS, is a common injury for runners and cyclists. The next day Joel presented me with a foam roller. This apparatus looks like a large whacky noodle […]

Not a good day. The mosquitos have found my stretching area in Esprit park. It was cold this morning and my circulation is normally poor so my hands were frozen immediately. There were 1,600 18-wheelers idling along Illinois Avenue so I got to suck in plenty of diesel exhaust. Worst of all the leg pain […]

Today I saw something that I thought I might never see: the Lefty O’Doul draw bridge. . . up! As in raised, as in sticking straight up in the air, as in a giant metal grate ascending into the sky! It was very cool to see and my run brought me there just […]

First day back after two weeks of being ill from a sinus infection. It is not entirely gone but I’m feeling well enough to run. I tried warming up after a short jog to Esprit Park. I would prefer to do 10 minutes warm up and warm down but I don’t have that much time […]

My right knee still hurts. Hockey didn’t really help that yesterday and lateral movement is definitely when it hurts the most. But I got through ok. First day running with the North Face Vapour Light sneakers. Felt pretty solid.

Ran with new spenco insoles and my new tsoks which I am very excited about. The insoles helped a little bit with the heel pain. Interestingly the heel hurts more after running than during. My left knee continues to bother me during running. So, still injured but trying to keep going. I’ll probably just cycle […]

Painful run. Left heel and right knee still feel awful. The knee was more of a problem. I played hockey yesterday which probably didn’t help. Perhaps cross training tomorrow and more ice on the bottom of the left foot.

Went to the bank to drop off rent check. Outside of left foot is still very sore. These thin socks are not helping.

More rain and this time I was not prepared. Took a short cut home and was well chilled upon arriving. Left foot was in a lot of pain.
