Speed work. 7 x 800m with short rest jogs in between for a total of 7km. I’ll be interested to see the speeds on the generated map because it felt fast. After this marathon in October it is back to half-marathon and below distances and hopefully lots of trails. I am over pavement. It is too bad, and surprising, that the Marine Corps Marathon doesn’t go through DC’s large and lovely Rock Creek Park. I’d much rather run in shade past the Zoo and under historic bridges than in the hot sun on exposed pavement past the blank grey stone of the government and monuments structures. Especially after a week in which it doesn’t feel particularly great to be an American.
