I had to pick up some cat food at the vet which took me over to the Sunset. Since the Nike Women’s Marathon course runs along The Great Highway I decided to run there. In the summer time it is always foggy in the Sunset and the last two times I have been over there I froze in cool wind coming off of the ocean. This time I was a bit more on top of things and packed a long sleeve shirt and fleece for after. It is easy to forget when you live on the sunny bay side that when you get over to the ocean side it is likely to be dark and blustery. Anyway, it was windy but pleasant running.
When I lived in the Sunset we used to get Indian pizza from Golden Gate pizza on Judah. K. inquired as to whether or not I might be able to swing by there on my way home. I parked nearby and called them while stretching. When I lived nearby it always took 40 minutes to an hour. Now that I need that time it was only going to take them 20 minutes. Just my luck. Fortunately they agreed to take 40 minutes.
I managed to keep a good clip going up the hill to the Cliff House, Seal Rock, and eventually into Land’s End. I’ll get the map up next week with elevation gains. My new knee brace is on the way via USPS from Texas. For some reason I couldn’t locate a small brace locally. My knee has a circumference of 14″. This is the kind of information you will need to get a knee brace. Who knew that my knobby knees qualified as small. Hopefully “the lift” from Pro-tec will be just what the doctor would have ordered had I bothered to visit him.
Which leads to the question of the day: do you visit your doctor, a specialist, or self-diagnose your running injuries?
