10.03 miles, 1:16:53
1 week to go and I had to prove to myself that 13 miles is going to be possible. I’m certain now that it is. This gives me all the confidence back that I had lost by getting sick. I do wish there was more recovery time between this run and next week. My ITBS was definitely creaky shortly after the run but the rubber strap has helped on longer runs. I still start out too quickly but, I felt good at the end of 10 miles and certainly able to tack on another 3.
Running early in the morning helped beat the heat. It was down right cold at the ocean’s edge and half of the park was covered in fog. I ran around the pan handle then all the way down to the ocean on the north side of the park and then finally back up the south side. Three micro-climates in all and not a second of unpleasant running. The Golden Gate Park really is one of the best places on earth to run. There are a hundred and one trails and paths to meander along, horses, buffalo, and ducks to chat with, and the smell of eucalyptus through out. Last week I even got to see some lawn bowling in action. The park has it all and I’m excited that my half of the race starts there.
