Today I decided to drive down to work in order to pick up my new espresso machine because I am a dirty, dirty yuppie and just had to have an expensive toy that I have little hope of operating correctly. As a side bonus for enduring the irritating drive down 101 I decided to do a trail run after work. I left without my shoes which of course set off the usual self-flagulation. When I got back home K. brought me up-to-date on the bombings in London which immediately put everything in perspective. Luckily friends and friends of friends are all safe and accounted for. It is amazing how easily one forgets that the trivial activities of the day are really well, . . . trivial. There is real suffering in the world much greater than any I endure on any day of my life. If the G8 summit doesn’t remind us of that then the occasional attack will certainly snap our heads straight.

Anyway, the trail run destination was Rancho San Antonio in Mountain View. I was again trying to avoid a large climb and a large descent but managed to find both (they usually come together). The knee held up for the most part but I did end up cutting the run a bit short. I did however get in a few pictures.
