A bit of a speed burst for the last .6 miles or so. Thus I think my condition is improving from fair to good. I’m trying to increase my distance very slowly. There was another runner out this morning running the same route at a slightly quicker pace. So the burst was actually to see if I could catch up to him, which I did. Even with the distraction I am getting a bit sick of this route what with the diesel exhaust and long stretches of asphalt. In the future, one ought to be able to rent a trail and have it magically appear in the morning for you to run on. Or perhaps an intensely immersive environment that makes you believe you are on a trail despite being on a treadmill in your house. Ah the future. It will be so wonderful when it arrives.
This Saturday we are going to a wedding so I’m going to run on Friday and Sunday. I fear I may be feeling the effects of the previous day’s celebration on Sunday so perhaps Friday will be the long distance day. Though I suppose if I stick to the short distance increase plan that will only be 5 miles. While I’m gaining confidence in getting over the ITBS I am still nervous about going the full 13 miles of the half marathon. I want to at least get close to that distance sometime soon. Perhaps a 10 miler next weekend.
