I messed up the timer early on so I actually went farther and it took longer but only by about 4 or 5 minutes. This time I paid more careful attention to my trial book and made the correct turn to go out ridge trail which provides spectacular views overlooking the bay and SFO. I actually passed another runner on the way back. He was headed where I had just come from. The book claims that the ridge trail is an out and back but it looked as though you could descend into South San Francisco.
Once my feet were sweaty my very thin socks became even thinner allowing my feet too much movement within my shoe. The result was some small pebbles in my shoes and my feet turning occasionally. I’ll be investing in slightly thicker trail running socks soon. Though it could be just a result of going with a slightly bigger shoe. My North Face Vapor Lights have a nice and roomy toe box but they sometimes feel a little loose in the heel despite my attempts to lace them up as tight as can be. It only bothers me when descending on rock though so I’m not about to switch shoes (this is my third pair in as many months).
