The park gates were closed at 4:00PM, I suspect because the Park ranger wanted to get home early. I had to park in Daly City and walk straight uphill to the side of the summit loop which I took the long way round. My pace was terrible but the path was very rocky and I could only increase speed in a few sections. The aforementioned park ranger drove by me, slammed on his breaks, and inquired as to whether or not I had driven into the park. When I replied incredulously, “No!”, he drove off as quickly as he had stopped. Thanks for the concern sir. I did finally find my way back to my car after walking dangerously near some giant telecommunications dishes with warning signs like “FCC says being anywhere near here will stunt your growth, harm your mother, and deform your genitals.” Not exactly a short cut. Beautiful place to run. The summit has an amazing panoramic view of the bay area.
